We are a group of residents that have come together in order to oppose the development of grade 2 agricultural land for a housing development. The proposed development would mean the permanent loss of green land and an increase in the size of the village by around 25% - an increase that none of the services, schools, roads, doctors, shops etc could cope with.

So why SAVE ?

Following some research we found out that all over the country the same thing is happening and we think that it is important to make a stand against such developments. We believe that we need to save the agricultural village environment (SAVE) in which we live.   We need to protect the air quality, the trees, the wildlife and the open spaces. Once lost to housing these things will never return.

We do understand that people need somewhere to live and in this part of the country there is massive pressure on Councils to provide more homes but we also understand that there are better ways to go about developing housing. Currently there are plans to build over 700,000 houses on green land in this country when there is capacity to build over 1,000,000 on brownfield sites which the Campaign to Protect Rural England has brought to the Governments attention.

We say if there is so much capacity to build on brownfield sites why should we stand by and watch the countryside be ruined by developers who have no regard for the residents of the villages and only have profit as their goal.

To start off we have leafleted  Cliffe Woods and parts of Cliffe to raise awareness of what is going on. We will endeavour to keep up to date information on here and on Facebook. Also the Parish Council website has updates as does the Cliffe and Cliffe Woods Alerts Facebook page
