Extremely Urgent re Gladman Planning Application MC/19/0287

We have just learnt that Gladman Developments/Medway Council have arranged for a second application be considered on 19th.August 2020 by Medway Council Planning Committee at 6:30 pm. This application is to build 225 residential dwellings on fields off Town Road. This meeting is right in the middle of the holiday season with many Cliffe Woods residents out of reach whilst on holiday.

Any attendance at the meeting will be limited or completely prevented using Covid 19 virus as an excuse. The Medway Council Planning Officer, Majid Harouni (he recommended the approval of the destruction of the green woodland space for Esquire opposite the recreation ground, which was nodded through by Medway Council Planning Committee) has recommended approval of the Gladman Scheme.

By this cynically-timed move you have been allowed only 7 days, to write to your local councillors (only email will be fast enough) or MP or the Secretary of State for Housing.

Please write to Cllr John Williams, johnwilliams@freeavalon.co.uk, Cllr Gary Etheridge, medway48@yahoo.co.uk and Cllr Mrs Turpin by email immediately, to ask that they strongly object on behalf of all the village objectors.

Please look at the Planning Officers recommendation report to the Councillors, on Medway Council website. Don’t be worried by the 46 pages – much of it is repetition. Much of the Gladman S106 agreements are incorrect and can be challenged. Your arguments could also shout out loudly that this is a VALUED LOCAL LANDSCAPE, that it is undemocratic to take such a vote in the midst of partial Coronavirus lockdown restrictions and that Global Warming/ Climate Change considerations ought to be given FAR MORE WEIGHT. This report is “PLANNING” for yesterday’s world.
