Shepton Mallet Bowls Club

About Us

The Shepton Mallet Bowls and Tennis Club has a distinguished past and a very exciting future.  The Club is being transformed to meet the demands of the 21st Century while maintaining that essential feel of a traditional Club.  It is our centenary next year and we plan to be hosting national events.  We have in place major funding bids to build new toilets and sufficient existing funds to upgrade our Clubhouse when plans finalised.  The standard of our bowls green is respected throughout the County.

The Club is registered as a Community Amateur Sports Club similar to charitable status.  We are committed to providing affordable, inclusive and accessible activities.  Membership is open to all on application regardless of gender, age, disablility, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs Membership may be limited according to available facilities on a non-discriminatory basis.  We are a grassroots club aiming to become a leading provider of disability and junior activities in the Mendip district of Somerset.  Although an urban site the Club is easily accessible with a central carpark at the heart of our facilities.

See separate tabs for further information about Bowls and Allotments.

Shepton Get Ur Skates On

Early in 2017 a group of members, with the support of the Club officers providing financial guidance and structural oversight developed a roller disco that now runs each Friday at the Leisure Centre usually attracting over 120 skaters.  This has now been set up as an independent operation with its own management committee but retains strong links with the Club. The venture received significant start up grants from our Shepton Mallet Town Council and Sport England but is now on a day-to-day basis financially viable.
