Saturday September 23rd. The turnout this year wasn't as good as in previous years and we had 20 bowlers. The afternoon started at 2.30pm with the Spider, playing for a bottle of whisky. This was win by Helen Woods." Well done Helen". It was then time for the match, this consisted of 2 triples and 1 rink, everybody enjoyed the 15 ends as there was alot of chat and laughter as the game progressed. I skipped with Roberta and Pat as my partners. We all finished around 4.15pm and it was then time for tea. The tea was a really lovely buffet and this was done by, June, Gordon's better half "Sorry Gordon but you know it's true". Each table went to the buffet in an orderly queue and the selection was fantastic, "Brilliant June, well done". All the tables had a bottle of wine and John Blankley (President) proposed 2 toasts one to Sileby Bowls Club, the other to Absent Friends. It was then time for the presentation, a present for Dave Daniell, for all his hard work, Bron for keeping the club afloat, and yellow roses for June for doing the tea. The prize's for the winning rink was Roberta, Pat and myself, the rink with the lowest score was our oppositon, Helen, Janet Harris and Robin. Gordon's speech was mainly about the club, and the lack of support by the members but on the bright side he said how well we had done in the leagues, not counting Thursday, we have been religated. Congratulations to John and Gordon for making the afternoon a success, it takes alot of work to organise an event like this, "Well Done, and a big THANK YOU to everybody who turned up to make the afternoon successful.  (Photo's Below)
