Smarden Parish Council

Our churches play a significant role in the community.

CHURCH OF ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL:  The beautiful church of St Michael the Archangel stands at the heart of Smarden village, and is open daily for visitors who want to come and pray, or admire the medieval building. It is known as the ‘Barn of Kent’ due to its unusually wide nave, and boasts fine ‘scissor beam’ roof timbers. Services take place every Sunday and range in style from traditional (Book of Common Prayer) to modern liturgy (Common Worship), and also include a monthly Messy Church service (we call it ‘Active Church’). We welcome everyone to come and worship with us – more details of our services and activities can be found on our website www.sbcofe.org.

For details about St Michaels Guild, the Church Choir, Bellringers and Flower Arrangers please see the Clubs and Activities page.

For information about the Churchyard please see the Environment/Tidy village page
