With Bowls England’s Guidance approved by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport we set about devising our specific protocols and guidelines, purchasing the cleaning material, devising a booking system and asking members for their opinions on starting the season. There were a variety of views – from an immediate start to staying closed for longer. The decision was made to start bowling, following the guidance, on Saturday. Over 20 members wished to start the season. Ahead of this official start some of the Committee trialled to guidelines and risk assessments to assess their effectiveness.

The first sessions took place on Saturday - 6 on the green in place of the normal 18 to 24 and all who played were delighted to be back, to bowl and enjoy social contact. The guidelines were adhered to, although the bowling, at times, reflected the long time away from the green.

Thanks go to those who have worked tirelessly on the green and surrounds - allowing us to start bowling again - and in developing the guidelines and protocols. The guidance and booking system seem to be working and we anticipate more members joining us in the not too distant future. There are two sessions available each day, seven days a week.
