The long wait was over and we were back to competitive bowling against other clubs in four Leagues. The season started towards the end of May with the Open league team securing a 4 points apiece draw away at Filey. Since then they have gone from strength to strength securing three 8-0 wins in succession and after 7 games - having completed half of this season’s fixtures with the return matches to come - they sit at the top of the table with 44 points - a lead of 11 points over second placed Seamer and with a positive points difference of 72 from their 5 wins and 2 draws.

The Aussie Pairs League started in early June with both South Cliff and South Cliff S facing each other. South Cliff ran out winners 4 points to 2 with aggregate scores of 49 to 33. After three matches - 1/3 of the season, South Cliff S sit in second place with 12 points, one point behind leaders Burniston who they beat 4-2 and one point ahead of Snainton in third place.

South Cliff are in 8th place having only played two matches.

The Tuesday Vets saw a superb opening victory against Burniston - 6-0 this was followed by two further victories over Filey & Snainton - both by 4-2

The Friday Independent League were the last team to get involved in inter-club fixtures and have played two winning one and losing one - both by the same margin - 8-2.

It is gratifying to see players who are relatively new to bowling are becoming increasingly involved in teams and thanks to the coaching at social bowling and beyond new members are increasing in confidence and we anticipate being able to call upon them to represent the Club in the not too distant future. Certainly the club Triples, Singles Leagues and the numerous practice matches held within the Club for the Vets and Aussie Pairs have honed members match readiness.
