12 players, making up four rinks of three, enjoyed a splendid Friendly against Smiths Dock based in Middlesbrough. For the majority of the team this was their first experience of playing competitively against another club. The overcast conditions gave way to glorious sunshine with a significant increase in temperature. Fortunately it was agreed, at the start, to restrict each player to 2 woods and there was a welcome break at the half way point. South Cliff had a 10 point aggregate lead at this stage. Smiths Dock reduced this over the second 9 ends but South Cliff ran out winners by 58 to 54, winning three of the four rinks.

All agreed that the match had been played in an excellent spirit and everyone enjoyed their opportunity to play competitively. Hopefully some will be confident enough to make the transition to the League teams.
