Knighthood 2016

Day 1 of the Knighthood was quite eventful. The sheriff was unable to attend as their consort was ill. The opening ceremony went slightly wrong, and by the completion of the first end the Knights were all cursing the need to wear the full outfit in 27/28+ degrees of heat that did change as the need for the umbrella did arise. The winner of the first end was Wayne Page. having come very close to winning last year it looked ominous when he put up a wood within a couple of inches, but as is always the case the next end was a totally different length across unchartered green which tends to throw the best bowlers. The bookies favourite Eliot Mahoney picked up two shots, Mick Barge (who had doubts as to whether he would bowl this year) scored an impressive 3 shots. Graham Long quietly moved on to 2 shots. New boys Billy Turlin Dave Callaway picked up a shot as did Richard Haynes, Ian Payne, Wayne Page and Dudley Bryant, My money is on Charlie a 16/1 outsider who so far has failed to shine. I had a brief chance to chat with him between ends, it seems he is looking for his odds to go up and saving himself for tomorrow so WATCH THIS SPACE
