Ladies Triples League

Match report SOBG  vs Pirrie Park, today 21st July 2016
It was always going to be a tough match against table topping Pirrie Park.  After end seven, however, Choi Lin Sanders, Nola Bayley and Barbara Sparling could be forgiven for thinking they at last had the game under control, having picked up a three to only be two shots behind at 6-8.  There was then a see-saw section of three ends where only 3 singles were exchanged.  The crucial point came on end 11, when the home side saw their three shot head be overturned into a four shot deficit. Suddenly they found themselves 7-14 down and with a bit of work to do.  Four singles followed for the home side - although the away skip had cut down multiples in each case.   Then a single dropped followed by a three and devastating five on the final end made the score-line appear very one-sided at 11-23, although the battle had been intense.
On the adjacent rink, Jan Bunker, Jan Body and Jeni Winney were having a similarly difficult time and indeed only won 6 of the available 18 ends.  They too had kept the score competitive up to 11 ends at which point they were only 9-12 down.  However, ten shots dropped over 6 out of the remaining 7 ends opened up a gap too far and the final score of 11-22 was crushing.
It is an interesting, useless and frustrating fact, that SOBG ladies have achieved most of their points away from home, and indeed have not won one single home match!!
