Ladies Triples League

The trip to Follands on Thursday 4th August was a disappointing result all in all despite some strong performances from our ladies.

Choi-Lin Sanders, Barbara Sparling & Jeni Winney found themselves 10-0 down by the 3rd end on a tricky rink that was decidely two-paced and very much more tender at one end than the other.  Whilst our ladies struggled with finding the green, the opposition had no such problems and regularly had some outrageous luck to reduce or turn over shots.  Winning an equal number of ends, the score of only 17-14 down at the end made the game look fairly even, but along the way Jeni had saved a six on end 12 and overturned a three down to a two up on end 16 so it had been a hard-fought game.

Next door, Pam Crompton, Lin Mills & Jan Bunker seemd to be having a very much easier contest and indeed by end 6  were 4-11 up. However the Follands ladies were not about to let Old Green run away with it, and they scored 14 shots over the next 7 ends, with the loss of only 1 shot, to storm ahead 18-12.  A much better end to the game though saw our ladies pick up 8 shots over the next 5 ends to go 18-20 up.  SOBG dropped one shot on the final end to win by a slender margin of 1 shot 19-20.  Unfortunately it wasn't quite sufficient to overturn the three shot deficit next door, but did at least net one valuable league point.

SOBG are in third place in the league on 22 points, but have only one game left to play whereas Atherley who are just below us have two games left to play and are on 19 points.
