The Competition was opened by the Town Crier, Terry Hamer it started on Wednesday 23rd August with the Mayor, Mayoress,(Councillors Les and Beryl Harris). The Sheriff and his wife( Councillor Mr and Mrs Barnes-Andrews) present  with the Knights dressed for the  occasion in top hat and tails. The competition went into the seventh day being finally won by Mr Ron Glossop the oldest member of the club at 89 years of age with the required 7 shots. Ron is disabled in that he will be undergoing a cataract operation today and he used an aid attached to his arm to aid his delivery on the green!


Ron will become the oldest Junior Knight at 90 next year what an achievement!


23 Gentlemen bowlers started the event this rising to 27 after the meal! On day 7 this had reduced to  12 bowlers when Ron finally won, it was a close match with two other Bowlers both on six points Graham Long and Keith Vine.

Ron will be installed as the 243rd Knight of the green on Friday 8th September at 6pm when the Town Crier, Mayor and Sherriff will be in attendance.
