Early Season 2024

OPENING DAY - 20 APRIL 2024

The 2024 season started on a glorious sunny afternoon in April with the green in good condition. The Club president , Charlotte Henley, raised the flag and the first jack and wood of the season were delivered by Janet Goldsworthy & Brian Ofield.

The club members able to attend then played a roll-up followed by a club tea. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon and looked forward to the season ahead and hoping the fine weather would continue.

OPEN RECRUITMENT DAY - 4 MAY 2024

This event was advertised in both Alphington & St Thomas areas and as a result we welcomed 33 people to have a try at playing bowls at our Open Recruitment day. Visitors and club members enjoyed the warm sunshine and gentle introdcution to the sport. After having a go all enjoyed a cup of coffee and some snacks. We hope that a few of those attending will have a few further free sessions in the coming weeks and take up the enjoyable game of bowls.

DEVON PRESIDENTS MATCH - 14 MAY 2024

St Thomas BC welcomed a Devon Presidents team to a friendly match at Cowick Barton. After a warm welcome and introduction the match got underway and bowlers form all over Devon took on the club in a six rink match. The previous day's heavy rain was forgotten as bright but breezy afternoon allowed some competitive bowls to be played. The match result was close with Devon winning by 118 to 107 shots. The full match tea, prepared by club members, was enjoyed by all and the Devon Presidents expressed grateful thanks to the club for the warm welcome and enjoyable afternoon.
