Shropshire Bus Campaign launch, Saturday 29th June 2019, Theatre Severn,

I am writing to invite you to the launch of a Shropshire-wide bus
campaign aimed at producing a serious improvement in Shropshire’s buses
so that buses can make a significant contribution to meeting the needs
of rural and market town residents in Shropshire.  Buses are essential
if residents are to have access to work, training, colleges, NHS
facilities, shops, banks and other routine destinations and they need to
run 7 days a week and at times that suit passengers.  Buses are also
important to support rural tourism and the tourism economy and for many
of our older residents who are finding driving difficult or for health
reasons have to give up driving.

The Shropshire campaign is funded by a national organisation, the
Foundation for Integrated Transport and is part of a national initiative
to promote bus use and improvements in bus services in ways that benefit
everyone.  At the national level we are arguing for additional funds to
support bus services and for changes in the regulatory environment to
make sure that buses connect with other buses and with all train

We have produced a report on buses in Shropshire which argues for
improvements and makes suggestions for ways in which Shropshire Council
can do more to support integrated bus services and more actively support
rural residents.

The report can be found here:
