Repair Cafe

St. Mary Bourne Repair Cafe runs on the first Saturday of each month in the George Inn Pub, St Mary Bourne

from 10am until 12 pm.

The Repair Cafe has been running since September 2022. It is part of a countrywide organisation to repair household and electrical items that otherwise would be expensive or unable to be repaired. Three expert volunteers give up their time to come and take up the challenge to renew and restore all manner of objects brought in. (Some are just not repairable)  They are occasionally joined by a talented seamstress who will also aim to mend any clothing, or small fabric repairs.  Please look at the calendar in the Hill & Valley, and watch our social media page to find out when she will be coming.

Some examples of items that have been repaired are vacuum cleaners (sometimes just need emptying!) various lamps, a piano stool, a roller blind, an iron, a Kenwood chef, a coffee machine, various floor cleaners and many clocks etc. Some items were pronounced terminal, which was a saving and others just needed new batteries.   The aim is to repair items during the session, and any donations are gratefully received and contribute to expenses.

We also offer knife and scissor sharpening services.

A disclaimer has to be signed for legal purposes. Come along, bring your broken things, and hopefully have them repaired.

Unfortunately we cannot mend:

  • Mobile phone and laptop screens
  • Valuable antiques :-)
