Kent Police

There has been a recent incident in which men saying that they were plain clothes police officers called at a house in Dartford saying that they had a warrant to search for counterfeit money. They were quite aggressive and wore what purported to be police identification passes around their necks. The old lady, whose husband had gone out, led one of them upstairs and gave him their savings, which he said were counterfeit and would thus be confiscated. They then left with the money.

Don’t let anyone into your home unless you are certain of their identity. If you are unsure ask them to wait whilst you phone the organisation named on any ID badges, even the police. Police officers will normally be in uniform but be aware of anyone knocking on your door. Anything suspicious phone 101 and if you are threatened phone 999

Dartford Borough Council-Summer Sizzlers

Lots of events for children entertainment taking place throughout the Dartford area this summer. Please take a look at the DBC website for details. There are a very limited number of programme booklets available at the parish office for those unable to access the website.

We also have our own Sizzler programme as usual

Events taking place at both Parsonage Lane & Hawley Pavilions on Wednesday mornings throughout August

We are again planning short local events to entertain your children and to give you a chance to get together for a chat and a bit of fun.The plan is to hold 5 local sessions this year as set out below, so hope you can come along. All are on Wednesdays 10am till noon.

  • Wednesday 2nd August Sutton Rec and Pavilion
  • Wednesday 9th August Sutton Rec and Pavilion
  • Wednesday 16th August Hawley Rec and Pavilion
  • Wednesday 23rd August Sutton Rec and Pavilion
  • Wednesday 30th August Hawley Rec and Pavilion

We have some funds remaining from last year and we have received a donation from Hawley Pavilion Trust and the Parish Council this year but we will still be asking for a small donation of £1 per child to help with the cost of providing the play equipment, hot and cold drinks, etc.

These events would not be possible without the support of a numberof volunteers including parents and carers, Parish Councillors and you!

Each event will be from 10.00am to 12 noon as the basic timewith the invite to stay on for a picnic etc into the afternoon.

Sutton Rec is in Parsonage Lane, entrance next to No 27 and canalso be accessed from Main Rd by the footpath alongside No 39.

This venue can stay open for a couple of hours after the morning session.

Hawley Rec and pavilion is opposite the Papermakers Arms and may not have access to toilets after 12 noon.

Some parking is available at both sites but it’s much better to walk if you can.

NEWS FROM YOUR MP-Gareth Johnson

Theme Park
London Resort Company Holdings recently announced it would be discontinuing its relationship with Paramount.  They clearly feel it will give them greater flexibility over who they work with on this project and the themes they will be able to offer.

My main concern is not how the park is themed but how the local area will cope with a large development of this nature.  The jobs it would bring would obviously be very welcome but it has to be approached in the right way.

I am due to meet with the project team shortly to discuss all the key issues.
