Sutton at Hone & Hawley Parish Council

June 17

June 2017

Kent Police

Earlier in the year, there was a spate of crimes in the Watermill Way/Devon Road/The Mill area. This council were unaware of this until advised by HK&SD PC and one of our members attended a public meeting on the 13th June. Unfortunately, despite a lot of discussion on social media, not many people attended. This council has still to receive information direct from Kent Police regarding the type and number of crimes in our area. We do ask Kent Police to send an officer to our monthly meetings to discuss local issues, but unfortunately this doesn't always happen. We are led to believe that PCSO Phillips is to support a new Neighbourhood Watch area in this part of the parish. Further details to follow when we receive them.

Kent Police have been criticised by HMIC for their crime reporting statistics. The figures given are that 24000 crimes went unreported between June & Nov 2016, including serious crimes such as rape. Representatives from this council will be attending a meeting at the civic centre early next month to hear Kent Police comments on this.

Once again, there have been reports by the local farmer that young children and youths are interfering with the irrigation equipment on the farms, particularly in Hawley. Apart from being classed as criminal damage, this is very dangerous, not only due to the machinery itself but that any liquids used may be dangerous in their undiluted form.

There are also still instances of off road bikes being ridden across farmland and ruining crops. If you see anything please call 101
