Swaffham Town Council

Open Spaces

There are 3 recreation & play areas in Swaffham:

  •  Haspalls Road – (the Rec)
  •  Merryweather – play area
  •  Oaklands – play area

In addition there is also the Church St Peter & St Paul and the Baptist closed churchyard.

There are new play areas in plan relating to the new housing developments being built in the town.

Maintenance by Swaffham Town Council
The Grounds Maintenance team maintain the recreation & play areas and churchyards as above undertaking the following work on a regular basis:

  • Grass cutting & strimming
  • Tree & shrub maintenance
  • Hedge cutting
  • Litter Picking
  • General maintenance including vandalism repairs
  • Play equipment – maintenance, health & safety checks, annual review and repairs

Open Spaces Committee (formerly the Recreation Committee)
The Open Spaces Committee meet on a bi-monthly basis in the Chambers. Chairman Cllr Sheila Lister presides alongside Cllrs and committee members
Topics on the agenda include:

  • Project updates on:
    • CCTV.
    • Derelict Toilet Block & Water Supply
    •  Skate Park enhancement/replacement (Sport England, WREN, Breckland Council)
    • MUGA - Multi Use Games Area
