Swindon West End Bowls Club was formed in 1926 as a men only club by some of the men from the Swindon Rail Works.

West End is now a mixed club, with the men playing in the Wilts, Swindon and District and Afternoon Triples Leagues, whilst the Ladies play in the Swindon and District evening league.

Membership and Seasonal fees can be paid as one-off payments or by instalments. First time bowlers will receive free membership and shirt for the first year.

Since the early days the club has moved from a small hut for a club house to the modern club house with a Skittle Alley, Dart Board,  Bar Billiards Table, Multi Speaker Sound System with multiple inputs including Bluetooth and the very well stocked bar we have today.

The club allows the wearing of tailored shorts for bowls matches.

The club house is available to hire for Skittles, Darts, Birthday parties and other private functions or celebrations.

In the summer months we play in mixed friendly bowls matches at weekends against clubs from Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Hampshire as well as against touring teams.

As a club West End has a well-earned reputation of being a very friendly club with members who love to play bowls and enjoy themselves at the same time.

During the winter we have a very competitive club skittles league on a Thursday evening. On Friday and Saturday nights we host several skittles teams from the Swindon Leagues.

We also have club other social events, such as Quiz Nights, Killer Skittles, Play Your Cards Right, Mr & Mrs, Bullseye, Race Nights and various others which always prove to be fun nights.

During the summer months (late April to September) if you want to try bowls come along you will receive a warm welcome and all the help and coaching you need to get you playing on the Green.

Not sure if bowls is for you, come and watch a game on a Monday afternoon, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, depending on fixtures, have a drink in the Bar. All are welcome. You do not have to be a bowler to join our club.
