The British Long-Bow Society

The British Long-Bow Society (BL-BS) was founded in 1951 for the specific purpose of perpetuating the traditions associated with the recreational longbow: that is the pursuit of excellence whilst shooting in the old two-way style with bows made, as nearly as practicable in the 19th Century manner, at English target and clout rounds in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.  The Society organises target and clout Meetings for Society members throughout the UK, and assists other societies and clubs who use the traditional longbow to organise Traditional Archery events using BL-BS Rules of Shooting.

The Society also encourages the craft and skills associated with traditional bowyery and fletching, and endorses The Craft Guild of Bowyers & Fletchers who are able to make equipment to the Society's criteria.

To join the British Long-Bow Society please contact the Honorary Secretary for an application form.
