The Darby and Joan Club
Fancy getting out and about a bit more? Keen to get to know a few like-minded locals?
First established in 1954, The Darby and Joan Club has retained its popularity over the years, with over twenty regular members aged 60+.
Open to males and females alike, meetings usually occur twice monthly, on the first and third Thursday* and consist of an informal afternoon with a session of Bingo followed by a short talk by a guest speaker on a variety of subjects.
There is also a 'bring-and-buy' raffle, then an excellent tea with sandwiches and cake.
During the year we have a Christmas party, a Club Birthday Party in May and a Harvest Festival in September.
We no longer go on coach trips but during the summer our meetings are often held in a local house where we have tea and sit in the garden! All by invitation of a number of people.
The club meets in:
The Overton Community Centre
at 1.45 and the meeting is normally over by 3.45.
We would welcome anyone aged over 60 who would like to join us - do get in touch for further details.
* Except January, February and August when it is just on the 3rd Thursday.
