Junior Youth Speaks Competition

6th February 2020:

Royal Wootton Bassett Rotary annually hold a speaking competition in which pupils from local primary schools compete.

A need arose for a simple green/amber/red coloured light system to silently indicate to the speaker how much of their alloted time they had left to speak, whereby green meant 'start', amber 'time almost out' and red for 'stop'.

RWB Shed member and Rotarian Mark Mudd made a simple lidded box for housing the lights from recycled plywood. Fellow Rotarian Keith Griffin and supporter of the RWB Shed completed the unit with the wiring and electrical functional and saftey testing.

The unit was put to good use at the RWB Rotary Junior Schools Youth Speaks Competition which was held at the RWB Memorial Hall on Monday 10th Feb.
