Gwen Patton, Presente
“And we who believe in freedom cannot rest until it comes.”

For My Sister Gwen

I have a sister Gwen Patton
Who gave her heart and spent the weeks, months and years
Opening the door of voting rights and human rights
And they know that outside the rain is going to fall
And leaves fall in southern North America
And he said that the town is a flower with SNCC
And those who marched and those who fought for the cry for freedom
They are my eyes of my soul
Young people who are walking on the long march
A flag of love
My feelings with water will fall
And in memory of my sister Gwen
At your big star
With a light they spent the most beautiful hours in Chicago
In the year 1968
The Voice of Peace Conference NBAWADU
That story at the door of love
With a cup of coffee
It opens and keeps changing a land without justice every minute
Sister Gwen on this day was the sun with her name
To die is to live
Listening like a wind under your big heart
We are always more you and me
Gwen Patton, Presente!
"And we who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes."

Pride

I dont know where i would be right now without my pride
Through sickness and in health they are always by my side
They are not just cats my pride are my family
Our love and care forr each other joins us in unity
They protect and care for me when i am scared and upset and ill
When the world turns its back on me they love me still
My pride is forever expanding and growing
My love for them all is forever showing
My love for each one is different but the same
Each one has a unique character and a different name
My pride is filled with cats from different races
All with diferent roles to play some playful hunters some fair of face
Some members of my pride have moved on to a special place
My love for them lives on they will never be replaced
For god takes the best ones he has realised their worth
It breaks my heart everytime. They were to good for this earth
As each one is taken they take a huge piece of my heart
To keep all pride members together never shall we part
I cry and grieve for them when its time to let them go.
But i will be reunited when it is my time i know They leave behind an empty food bowl
But a new pride member comes along for me to love with all my heart and soul
There is not one single member of my pride i dont love
both here on earth and up above
My pride thats has passed on will wait for my time to leave
Then it will be my earth prides time to grieve
But we will wait at rainbow bridge for all pride members to meet
Until they too leave this earth for the bridge only then will my heart once again be complete .

Before The Fall

What kind of fall is it that comes tumbling: is it the comeuppance sort that's tarnished by the thought 'better him than me',
or is it the end of tether type when pride is given still more rope, to hang in there, thinking,'there are other ways to die'?

Awareness

Pride is the truth of being proud
Someone you know has done their best
You become very proud
You take them within your arms
and you show them the life
that will help them advance
And then you see your offspring
and wonder ...
Did you do them proud?

A Nation's Pride

Nothing brings out a nation's pride
Than celebrating the announcement that a baby died
A moment to savour we cannot let slide
The euphoria of the announcement a baby had died
The blood red stain we make no attempt to hide
When celebrating the announcement a baby died.
Full English please with morals well fried
A hearty meal for those celebrating the announcement a baby died
I wonder the feeling if the baby was blonder in stature and fairer of hide?
Oh well N'importe quoi party tonight a baby died
His innocence tis no crime nor choice to be born to an ISIS bride
Alas that doesn't save you from our dad dancing at the announcement a baby had died
Wash our hands of the guilt in the cold North Sea tide
We must look our best for the announcement a baby had died
Home Office delaying tactics fully applied
Now sit back and enjoy the moment a baby had died

Flock
(Hastings Pride, 2018)

Suddenly, for the first time ever,
I can see a dancing rainbow
all around me and I am glad.

Last Sunday, my friends wore
the Rainbow Flag, Alice even had
the gift of a Rainbow tote bag.

So we made our own hospitality tent,
out of the rain, and entertained each
other till the sound system turned grey.

We did not care about the rain,
we are rainforest birds forever,
our flag flies free, come join the dance.

Whether we are DFL’s or OFB’s
or your native sons and daughters
this town is our town as much as yours.

Our colours can be your colours,
and if I kiss a friend or stranger on the cheek
it means whatever we want it to mean.

Am I your least likely suspect?
Would you like me to ‘just go Home?’
My home is not London, not Brighton,

it’s here, it’s now, I am not a pervert,
I am a deviant, I am the new Normal,
I can be your Jiving Instructor.

Do you think I want to change you?
Only you can change yourself;
every dance starts with one step.

Phoenix Finds Happiness

It’s our new home in California,
just along the road from Eureka.

This is a haven for rich old hippies
who escaped from Haight-Ashbury

before hard drugs contaminated
the counter-culture; they sold up,

cleaned up, meditate twice a day
and are so smug and self-centred.

My best friend and I just bought
one of the only two bars in town.

We will be flying the Rainbow Flag,
out and proud, making a difference

in Happiness, California, our aim
is Think global, dance local,

and anyone who doesn’t like it
can drink in the Glockamorra Bar

at the other end of Main Street;
tolerance goes about 200 yards here.

We welcome anyone who welcomes us,
and yes, we will show football on TV.

Oh yeah, we will be running for Sheriff
and Mayor, is that your worst nightmare?

Within Inside Pride

Given it all in all we can
In time to call it fortune
That we have given it all
Square bare faced open
Proud deed seed wordsmith
