A message from Katie Derwent
Community Liaison Officer at the Boomtown Festival.
This year, we’re proud to have contributed £161,710 to a wide range of local causes, community projects, neighbouring parishes, and national charities - a great achievement that directly strengthens and supports our communities.
A major highlight is our new partnership with Winchester Hospice, to which Boomtown has donated £100,000. We are honoured to support the hospice’s essential work with local families, reflecting the kindness, care, and community spirit that defines our region.
Alongside this, £20,000 has been shared between our eight neighbouring parish councils to support meaningful community initiatives that make a real difference to local life.
We have also invested £17,500 in early years facilities at local schools and nurseries, including:
• Cheriton Primary School – £6,000 to refresh and upgrade early years classrooms
• Ropley Primary School – £6,000 for improved classroom facilities
• Cherry Tree Nursery, Cheriton - £3,000 to enhance outdoor play areas
• Itchen Valley Montessori – £2,500 for early years learning support
These projects have helped create inspiring, nurturing spaces where our youngest learners can explore, play, and grow.
We were also delighted to award £5,000 to Breakout Youth in Eastleigh, supporting their vital work with LGBTQ+ young people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
In addition to our local giving, we are pleased to support two national charities whose missions align with our values:
• War Child – £7,280 towards their international work supporting children affected by conflict
• Onboard Earth – £11,930 to help advance their national environmental education programmes
Thank you for your continued collaboration and for everything your parish does to enrich local community life. If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
Warmest wishes,
Katie
