Remembrance Sunday - 8 November 2020
Urpeth Parish Council
Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic our traditional service led by Reverend Lintern, followed by the ceremony of wreath laying has been cancelled on the 8 November 2020.
Remembrance Sunday is such an important date and it has come as a huge disappointment to us that the council are unable to hold a service this year, however we must follow national guidelines and of course public safety is our main priority at this time.
In order to mark the day the Parish Council, along with our County Councillors and a representative from Kevan Jones MPs office will carry out the ceremony of laying a wreath at the memorial on Station Road, Beamish at 1.00 p.m. on Sunday 8 November 2020. In line with current Tier 2 guidelines this will be done in a socially distanced way and we would therefore discourage members of the public from gathering at this location. We would however urge you to to take the time to mark your respects either in person when passing or by following the Two Minute Silence at 11.00 a.m. on the same day.
The memorial stone at Beamish has sand filled troughs at either side of the stone which will be prepared for crosses if any member of the public would like to pay their respects in this way.
