Following many representations by the Councillors and the Parish Council to East Sussex CC Highways, we have learnt that Bodle Street Geen has been identified as one of 10 priority sites across the county for investment in road safety.

Following concerns raised about the speed of vehicles, these proposals will highlight the change in speed limits to encourage compliance and safe speeds through the village and include:

  • Provision of enhanced signing at the start of the speed limits in the village
  • Provision of roundels painted on the carriageway at the start points of the speed limits in the village
  • Renewal of existing road signs as appropriate
  • Provision of roundels painted on the carriageway at appropriate locations throughout the village
  • Cutting back of vegetation where necessary

It is anticipated that the above scheme will be completed before the end of the financial year in March 2023.

The Council will monitor the impact of these improvements and continue to make representations to ESCC about the safety in all our villages from road traffic.
