This proposal will be discussed at the club meeting on Monday 11th April.

Reason for renewal: There are a number of issues with the carpet. At several places the carpet has pulled away where the grippers have failed, the stitching between the carpet sections is showing signs of failure, and the underlay is old and breaking up. The carpet was turned a few years ago and the underside is worn, which shows that the carpet is at the end of its useful life.

Proposal: It is proposed that the carpet, underlay, and grippers is replaced by “Greenguage” at a cost of £12,000 plus vat to include banks and ditches, live bowls markers and T’s and 2 maintenance visits. The quote also includes a full laser level check and disposal of old carpet and underlay. Although this quote does not include rectification of any faults found, the level check will show up if there are any major problems that may need attention in the future.

The replacement of the carpet etc. will give a good playing surface for the foreseeable future.
The specification for the work Is:-
a) 100% pure woven polypropylene semi-worsted yarn. Stretched and fitted to new grippers to the lower side of ditches
b) Duralay Formula One Underlay. Each seam taped using premium Bowls underlay adhesive tape.
c) All seams stitched using bonded nylon.
d) Banks and ditches replaced
e) Fully marked for play with 23 Metre markers, live bowls, jack markers and T’s
f) Speed of green to be approx. 17.5 seconds (+/-5%) measured over 27 metres
