Members who played in last season’s Top Club competition, or perhaps entered Bowls England National Competitions, will recall that Bowls England had shortened the format of the games.

For example a triples game was played with two bowls over 18 ends, pairs three bowls over 18 ends and rinks (fours) two bowls over 15 ends.

Well from next season the format is closer to previous years- Triples will be played with three bowls over 18 ends. Pairs four bowls over 18 ends and fours two bowls over 18 ends.

This change is in response to feedback received from players in the national survey conducted towards the end of the 2021 season. Bowls England should be congratulated for listening, most players I spoke to felt the shortened version of the game wasn’t as enjoyable as the previous version.
