Very Urgent

Martin Speakman recently resigned from his position as Publicity Officer and we need to fill this post as a matter of urgency.  This involves sending match reports to the Wellington Weekly on a regular basis.  I have spoken to the Editor Barry Knott and if someone sends in basic reports he will translate this into text for publication.  The Editor can advise the new Publicity Officer on what’s needed and related deadlines for the newspaper.  Results can be obtained from the match score cards submitted by Team Captains.

Brian Wombwell has indicated that he will not be standing for election as Secretary at the next AGM.  Brian says that if someone wishes to come forward now they could shadow him until the AGM when they would take over the post, subject to being elected.  He has also offered to support the new Secretary over their first year while they find their feet with the various tasks.  It is essential that the Club Secretary has regular access to the Internet and is able to receive and send emails including attachments.

“This is a very important post as the Club cannot function without a Secretary”

I, too, will not be standing for election as Club Chair in September.  I am giving plenty of notice so that members have time to consider applying for this position.  If anyone would like to discuss the role I would be happy to meet and discuss it with them.  It is desirable that the Chairperson has access to the internet and the ability to receive and send emails.
