It looks as though the long wait for decent broadband speeds should soon be over for many in the Parish! We are now being helped by a company called Rural Broadband South West. They are more local to us and after some hard work and patience they have now arranged a line into the football club in Bishops Lydeard. The football club have very kindly agreed to support our efforts to bring fast broadband to the Parish by allowing us to link from the football flub through a wireless connection that will be beamed up to West Bagborough village as a first step. The next steps will be to find and agree further wireless links from those first properties to spread around the Parish area by the use of small reflectors. We cannot be certain at this stage how far and to which properties the service will be available. It is a wireless feed that requires direct 'line of sight' between the reflectors so detailed surveys will be needed as the project develops

Work will start on connecting the first properties in West Bagborough just as soon as the business broadband connection goes live at the football club. BT OpenReach has said that should be within a couple of weeks. Let’s hope they get it right this time and don’t let us down yet again!

If you have already registered an interest with Paul Gaunce then you will be contacted as soon as the surveys begin.

In the meantime you can find some details of the type of service offered by Rural Broadband South West on their website.
