Issued to Club Secretaries and County Officers

PLAY BOWLS FUNDING PACKAGE. FIRST AID PROVISIONS. SPRING COMMUNICATION MEETING. COACHES TO SBA MATCHES

1. THE BDA ‘PLAY BOWLS’ FUNDING PACKAGE

Please note that applications for the £250 BDA funding will be accepted up until 31st March.

http://playbowls.org/clubs/play-bowls-package-funding

This is proving immensely popular around the Country, but so far only two Somerset Clubs have applied.

Just think; if half of our Clubs apply, that will be £10,000 ‘free’ money to help the development of outdoor bowls in Somerset.

Please don’t waste this opportunity.

2. FIRST AID PROVISIONS DURING CLUB EVENTS

If you are holding an event involving a lot of people visiting your Club, such as Open Days, Tournaments, etc – please be aware of your Health & Safety responsibilities.

Bowls England's factsheet ‘Useful Information for Clubs’ Topic 26c states:

Clubs / Associations must recognise their duty of care and legal requirement for first aid provision in their facility and understand that they must ensure adequate arrangements are provided for dealing with emergency situations that require first aid.

3. SPRING COMMUNICATION MEETING

Date for your diaries:

Saturday 8th April 2017. 10.30am start. The Victoria Club Street

Please ensure your Club is represented.

This is not just about collecting your ‘goodie bag’, but a chance for us to share information before the season starts.

It’s a Communication Meeting and communication works both ways. Feel free to bring along any questions or concerns you may have.

4. COACH TRANSPORT TO SBA MATCHES

At a recent meeting, the Executive Board agreed to provide coaches for 2 matches this summer. The matches are the men's cup match against Middlesex at Staines on 2nd August, and the ladies’ friendly match against Cornwall at Kensey Vale on 27th June. As a result, the match fees for these matches will be increased to £22 for the Staines match and £20 for the Kensey Vale match.

Will you please ensure all your members who might be affected, know of this significant change.
