The first stage of restoring the Village Sign, damaged by the recent run of storms, occurred this morning as it and the supporting post were removed from their site in the Village Centre.

The next stage is to decide how best to restore the Sign to its rightful place in the heart of the Village. The current thinking is that the heavy wooden frame should be replace with a lighter metal one that hopefully would not be so badly affected by the high winds that seem to becoming a regular feature of our weather; this will be a matter for an urgent discussion between the Parish Council, the Wilmington Society and other interested parties.

Once the Sign was down at ground level it was abundantly clear that it was in desperate need of cleaning/repainting and, in due course, the Parish Council will be looking for a local artist to take on this task.

The Parish Council is comitted to having the Sign back in place as soon as is possible.

The Parish Council is indebted to Baylis Landscape Contractors Ltd who removed the Sign and post at very short notice.
