Winchester Operatic Society

About Us

We are a friendly and lively group that stages musicals, operetta and light operatic productions at the Theatre Royal Winchester.

Of the many distinguished Musical Directors and Producers that have worked with the Society the best known is Sir Malcolm Sargent who worked with us during the 1920s and 1930s.

July 2012-June 2013 marked our centenary. The society was founded in 1912 and produced its first show in 1913. We perform at the Theatre Royal, Winchester staging two productions annually in the spring and in the autumn.

Auditions take place before each production. Rehearsals take place at 7.45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays at All Saints Primary School,Winchester SO23 0PS. Not all the cast is called for each rehearsal. Productions run for 6 days, with a matinee performance on the Saturday.
