Interested in joining Lions?
Witney Lions are one of the biggest local voluntary organisations in Witney. Our prime objective is to help out in the local community but we are also part of a worldwide organisation with 45,000 clubs in 192 countries, 1.4million members, of which 944 clubs and 20,000 members are in the U.K. and Ireland.
Membership of Witney Lions Club is open to both male and females.
Why should I join?
You'll get an opportunity to make new friends as we work and serve the local community; you'll meet lots of people in Witney and the surrounding villages.
You will be able to involve the whole family; your spouse or children can come to the Witney Carnival and help out, or join you at any of our social functions. Your spouse would also be very welcome helping out with our Christmas float and static collections.
We can give you the chance to become involved in local fundraising initiatives and progress to running one of the clubs committees when you feel confident to do it. The choice of what and how much you do is down to you. We organise and get involved in a wide variety of fundraising events and activities to help the local needy.
Friends of Lions
We have nine people at present who are Friends of Lions, these may be ex-members, or the family of ex-members. For a variety of work or personal reasons, they feel unable to be full members of the club, but still like to help out on occasion and attend some social functions. Others have never joined the club, but again want to help out in their local community. Friends of Lions do not pay membership fees or have voting rights, but are very welcome in the club.
How do I join?
We can arrange for you to meet up with a few of our members for an informal chat to give you more information about becoming a member. One of the best ways to be introduced to Witney Lions is to come along to one of our events or socials.
For further information please telephone 08432 898857 (5p a minute from a BT landline) for a chat with a club member.
Alternatively you can send us an email by clicking on the green envelope.
