Bowls England’s safeguarding function works in collaboration with The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA), The English Indoor Bowling Association (EIBA), English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA), The British Crown Green Bowling Association (BCGBA), English Bowling Federation (EBF) and Disability Bowls England (DBE).

The Safeguarding role is to Safeguard Children and Adults at Risk. The Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO) is the first point of contact for all safeguarding issues within their club. They are responsible for giving advice about the wellbeing, safeguarding and protection of young people, promoting good practice, ensuring the reporting process is clearly communicated and understood within the club. As the clubs Safeguarding Officer you should have the support of your committee and membership in putting safeguards in place for all activities. You are responsible for helping club officials to be clear about their safeguarding responsibilities so that you can work as a team.

The CSO is the person to take appropriate action on receipt of any concerns or referrals and liaise with the County Safeguarding Officer.

The contact details of both the Club Safeguarding Officer and the County Safeguarding Officer should be clearly displayed within your club along with the Club Safeguarding Policy.

Attached are the Policy and Guideline documents that you may need to have for a better understanding of the requirements of your club and your Safeguarding Officer.

All these documents, and lots more information - including posters and templates - are available on the Bowls England website:  https://www.bowlsengland.com/safeguarding/

Please note that David Dearlove has now retired as CSO and new County Safeguarding Officer with contact details will be announced in due course.
