Details

Tilley, a small hamlet some 8 miles North of Shrewsbury, is made up of several half-timbered houses. Virtually all of these houses feature on a map dated 1631 kept in the Shropshire Record Office, and a community-led project, funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, sought to establish their true age. Employing the latest survey techniques and experts in their field, the Tilley Timber Project went on to become the largest dendro-chronology project in the country at the time.

Alastair Reid, a retired Naval Officer asd co-director of the project, reveals the findings.
