The Archers’ Graham Harvey Highly-Acclaimed New Play Coming Soon

By kind permission of The Viscount Lymington, No Finer Life tours to Home Farm Barn, Farleigh Wallop near Basingstoke for a performance in aid of CPRE Hampshire on 21st February 2018, 7.30-10pm.

Graham Harvey, for twenty years the Agricultural Story Editor of The Archers and writer of more than 600 episodes, brings to the stage the true tale of an unlikely Cotswold hero and an enduring romance.

Set in the Oxfordshire countryside at the end of World War Two, rich in tradition and full of vivid, memorable characters. But this is no nostalgic, bucolic ramble.

This is Elizabeth’s story...

What inspires a young Somerset land girl to set off in search of a best selling author in the darkest days of war? The story moves between the 1940s and the current day, reflecting that the love of the countryside, the need to protect it and issues of national identity, are timeless. A tale as relevant today as it ever was. “When peace is won, we fight for the land we love”…

The show has received praise from theatre critics around the country and in a survey of one thousand audience members, the show was rated 4.8 stars out of five.

Graham Harvey has been Ambridge’s “Minister of Agriculture” for more than twenty years, advising on all the stories of countryside life that make the programme such compelling listening. His stage plays include The Darkness of the Sun, the story of writer Henry Williamson and he is a regular writer for The Sunday Times and the New Scientist. Graham also wrote the Old Muckspreader column in Private Eye and has several books to his name.

James Le Lacheur, the play’s director created the role of Yann Fredericks and also played Scorpius Malfoy, son of Harry’s perpetual enemy, Draco, in the multi-award winning West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
