Details

Ickford and the neighboring village of Tiddington have a long-standing tradition of an annual tug-of-war competition held across the River Thame, with the first recorded event taking place in 1953.

Ever since the two villages pull on opposite banks on the first Friday in August, with 2024 being the 71st Pull.

It’s Buckinghamshire against Oxfordshire and the evening ends with one team being hauled into the water.
