-
Nature walk led by a local volunteer or naturalist
-
Picnic blankets, games for children (e.g. sack race, egg-and-spoon race, nature scavenger hunt)
-
Simple refreshments — tea/coffee, cakes, home-bakes from community volunteers
-
Optional “meet & chat” session for new residents to meet neighbours and parish councillors
Purpose / Benefit:
Encourages community cohesion, gives both long-term and new residents a chance to meet and socialise informally. Celebrates the rural character of Whalton and strengthens sense of belonging.
