Join us for a relaxed afternoon of community, conversation, and countryside fresh air! Bring your own picnic — or grab some home-baked goods and drinks from our small refreshment tent. After lunch, at 1:30 pm, we’ll set off on a guided nature walk around the parish, including countryside footpaths near Whalton and Ogle, highlighting local flora, farmland and heritage spots.
Activities Could Include:

  • Nature walk led by a local volunteer or naturalist

  • Picnic blankets, games for children (e.g. sack race, egg-and-spoon race, nature scavenger hunt)

  • Simple refreshments — tea/coffee, cakes, home-bakes from community volunteers

  • Optional “meet & chat” session for new residents to meet neighbours and parish councillors

Purpose / Benefit:
Encourages community cohesion, gives both long-term and new residents a chance to meet and socialise informally. Celebrates the rural character of Whalton and strengthens sense of belonging.
