Godshill Parish Council is seeking a new Parish Councillor through co-option.

Help shape Godshill’s future. If you care about your community and want to turn ideas into action, join us to represent residents and influence services, projects and priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Be a strong voice for local people.
  • Shape decisions on budgets, policies, planning, local issues and community facilities.
  • Help improve open spaces, playgrounds, allotments and local buildings.
  • Attend council meetings on the first Monday of each month.

What you’ll bring

Some of these:

  • Energy and connection: Bring people together to tackle challenges such as youth engagement, loneliness and community resilience.
  • Initiative: Mobilise volunteers, seek grants and build partnerships that make projects happen.
  • A clear local voice: Listen to residents and champion their concerns with principal authorities, the police and health services.

Who can apply?

You must be:

  • Aged 18 or over.
  • A British citizen, eligible Commonwealth citizen or EU citizen.
  • A registered local elector, or someone who has lived, worked or owned property in Godshill—or within 3 miles of the parish boundary—during the past 12 months.

Some disqualifications apply, including being a paid council employee or subject to bankruptcy restrictions. Ask the Clerk for full details.

Applications will be considered at the Parish Council meeting on 2nd November 2026. Candidates will be invited to say a few words about themselves.
