2021 Season start date

We have been asked when the league will start next year? The Bowls England standardised weeks has 2021 jumping forward 6 days (rather than the usual back one day). So, if we started on week 21 that would be Thursday 27th May. However, if we do that the league won't finish until Thursday 5th August. This would put 4 fixtures before the summer equinox (Monday, June 21st) with 7 after it.

We're not obliged to follow the BE Standardised Weeks. If we bring the start of the season to the equivalent date to this year, that would be Thursday 20th May. This would give us 5 matches before the longest day and 6 after. Thereby maximising daylight in the evening.

So the 2021 WSBL season will commence on Thursday 20th May 2021. Obviously we won't know until the September AGM whether we have the same number of teams?
