2026 – 2027 ALLOTMENT RENT & AGREEMENT

Dear Allotment Holder,

2025 was another challenging year for growers – quite the opposite to last year – but we cannot complain too much about the sunshine, as it was a glorious year. Once again, I have seen amazing produce and beautiful flowers while walking around the allotments.

Allotment Competition
The 2025 allotment competition was held on the morning of Saturday 5th July. We had the pleasure of visiting nine allotment gardens and, after much deliberation, the judges decided the following:

Best Kept Allotment
1st Place – Ian Fender
2nd Place – Billy Trotter

Chairman’s Award
Louise Robson

The judges would like to congratulate the winners and thank all gardeners for their hard work and dedication. Despite the challenges of the year, it was wonderful to see such well-kept and cared-for allotment gardens.

Garden Plots
We have welcomed several new tenants this year, although we still have residents waiting for plots. To ensure all plots are used effectively, we have decided not to renew any plot that has remained dormant, overgrown, or unused during 2025/2026.

If you have not used your plot to its full potential or find it becoming too much to manage, please consider giving it up so another resident of Lynemouth can enjoy it. We will be taking a firm approach with tenants who fail to use or maintain their plots during 2026.

Horse Plots
The committee will take the same approach with horse plots as with garden plots. Plots must be kept tidy and secure with appropriate fencing. Fences are the responsibility of the tenant. Failure to maintain fences and keep horses secure may result in termination of the tenancy.

Water
Once again, we have seen an increase in water consumption. While no leaks were found, some tenants appear to be filling tanks directly from the mains supply instead of collecting rainwater. Please remember that collecting and using rainwater is a condition of your tenancy. If water usage does not reduce in 2026/2027, rent may need to increase the following year.

Main Gate
If you require a gate key, please contact the Clerk. Keys cost £12 each. Please ensure the gate is locked after entering or leaving, as failing to do so compromises the security of all plots. Warnings will be issued to anyone who repeatedly leaves the gate unlocked.

Rent for 2026 – 2027
The Allotments Committee has decided not to increase the rent for 2026/2027. It will remain at £60 per plot (£30 for a half plot). The rent will be reviewed again in 2026.

Plot Number Sign
All plots must display a sign showing the plot number on or near the gate. Numbers must be at least 2 inches (50mm) high. This helps with reporting faults, water leaks, and ensures the safety of allotment users.

Anyone failing to comply by 1st March 2026 will not be able to renew their tenancy for 2026/2027. Any rent paid will be refunded and 30 days’ notice to quit will be issued.

Tenancy Agreement
This year’s tenancy agreement is enclosed. Please sign it, make any necessary changes, and return it to:

78 Albion Terrace
Lynemouth
NE61 5TB

by 1st March.

Payment can be made by cheque (payable to Lynemouth Parish Council) or by bank transfer:

Chair of the Allotment Committee
