The proposal for a 375‑home development next to our site has now been scheduled for planning committee next week. The timing is certainly interesting, coming just as Basildon’s strongly pro‑housing administration approaches an election where control of the council may change.

From our side, the RA has done everything within our power. We submitted a detailed seven‑page objection, and we met directly with the developers and successfully negotiated adjustments that will reduce the impact on Dunton Park residents.

However, Basildon Labour always support large applications of this kind and green‑belt protections have been watered down - so we have to be realistic and expect this application will be approved.

That said, we’ve worked hard to secure some adjustments to that the final outcome is as balanced as possible. We’ll update you once the committee has made its decision, but at present the planning officer is recommending approval.
