The Parish Council is pleased to report that all Plots in the Ann Allen Allotment Gardens have been taken and that, should any Plot become vacant, there is already a Waiting List .

Work has been undertaken in the Allotment Garden to deal with a compost pile that was becoming unmanageable. The pile has been flattened, spread and seeded with grass and, in due course, will be seeded with wildflowers to encourage bees to help the pollination of the vegetables and fruit being cultivated.

Allotment Holders are now expected to compost waste green material on their Plots but an area has been set aside for burning the not easily compostible items such as what are left after squashes and runner-beans have been harvested.

The trees surrounding the Allotment Garden are to be surveyed and any work identified will be undertaken.

What is good to see is that the ages of the Allotment Holders range from 3 to 91 as one of the Plots is cultivated by youngsters from St Michaels Pre-School who seem to greatly enjoy their time working on their 'patch'.

The Chairman of the Parish Council, Councillor Stacey Brown said - 'Following the successful and on going engagement between the Parish Council and the Ann Allen Allotment Holders , I are pleased to say that the Council acted on the feedback, as Mark the Parish Groundsman has done a brilliant job of clearing the compost areas. My thanks to the Allotment Holders and the Parish Council for the positive engagement and the actions taken. I look forward to the Council continuing to engage with the Allotment Holders over the coming Seasons'.
