As the two Oakley teams began this evening's Cusheon games both were still in contention to make the final in a few weeks time. Their games began well and by 5 ends the "A" team led Basingstoke Town "B" by 6 shots and the "B" team were just 1 shot down to Old Basing. Things changed little over the next 5 ends but by 15 ends the "A" team had moved into a commanding lead of 20 shots and with the "B" team nosing ahead by 2 we knew that if we stayed ahead in both games Oakley was almost guaranteed to have one of its teams in the Final. Sadly it was not to be. The "B" team leading by 1 shot with just one end to play dropped a 3 on that final end and are now out of contention having lost 3 of their 6 games played. The "A" team, however held on to win by 15 shots and with 5 wins from 5 need just 1 win from their last 2 games to qualify.

Oakley "A" - Nicole Rogers, Mary Varndell, Ric Newson and Fred Norris won 34-13, Ashley Nethercliffe, Malcolm Grime, Dave Harrison and Kay Kerley lost 19-25

Oakley "B" - Camilla Kingshott, Paul Cresswell, Eric Lamkin and John Wilson won 21-15, Jo Holland, Terry Varndell, Val Ryan and Bob Goodyear lost 11-19
