An update to water supplies received at 20:11
An update to water supplies in Bredgar, Borden, Doddington, Teynham and surrounding areas.
Good Evening
I am writing to provide an update regarding water supplies in Bredgar, Borden, Doddington, Teynham and surrounding areas.
What’s the latest?
The maintenance on electrical equipment at our water treatment works is ongoing. As a result, 4,624 properties are still experiencing low pressure or no water.
What’s happened?
Our teams are working hard to complete urgent maintenance to electrical equipment at our water treatment works which supplies Bredgar, Borden, Doddington, Teynham and surrounding areas.
While this work was originally planned for later this weekend, it had to be brought forward due to the wider power issues being experienced in the Sittingbourne area today.
To safely complete this work the water treatment works must be temporarily shut down.
When will supplies be restored?
Customer supplies should be restored by mid morning on Sunday 9 August.
Alternative water
Two bottled water stations are now open and will close at 10pm:
- Asda Sittingbourne,Trinity Trading Estate, Mill Way, Sittingbourne ME10 2PD
- Morrisons, Mill Way, Sittingbourne ME10 3EX
We are delivering water to all 4,624 properties affected. These deliveries will take time to complete, but we’re expecting they will be done by 10pm tonight.
We are also supporting critical sites such as local farms, care homes and medical centres.
We know how disruptive and frustrating losing water is, particularly during warm weather, and we apologise unreservedly for the impact on your communities.
We will keep you updated this evening regarding restarting the site. Please continue to share this information across your local networks.
