We appreciate the upset this letter from Regency has caused so we have written as below.

Part of what makes this so frustrating is that we genuinely tried to raise concerns before any of this happened. We could see potential problems coming and even asked the licensing officer whether these issues could be looked at before development took place. The response we received was that they can only react once something has happened, not step in beforehand.

That leaves residents in an impossible position. By the time concerns can be considered, the trees have been cut down, the homes have been positioned and the damage has already been done. You end up feeling as though the system is stacked against park home owners from the start!

Dear Vivi,

We were really disappointed to receive the EDM saying that, following the council visit, the conifer tree at Manstead is to be removed to accommodate Plot 202.

We are not saying nothing should ever change, and we understand that site development happens. However, there has to be a sensible balance. This is one of several mature trees that have had to be chopped down in that close - and the company's priority seems to be squeezing in new homes whatever the cost to the environment or the community.

When you come to visit us next month, I would genuinely like the opportunity to introduce you to some of the residents in Manstead who have put up with an awful lot over the last six months. These are not NIMBYs objecting for the sake of it. They are people who invested their savings in homes in a lovely little cul-de-sac, many of them overlooking a beautiful meadow with mature trees and abundant wildlife. They chose to live there because of those surroundings and the quality of life they offered.

Over the last six months these people have watched that environment change dramatically and, for many, it genuinely feels as though the heart has been ripped out of their close. We have had residents in tears over what has happened and the way they feel they have been treated by Regency Living. Whether you agree with every concern that has been raised or not, the upset, disappointment and frustration are very real.

I think hearing directly from the people affected would help you understand just how strongly many feel about the recent changes and the impact the development works is having.
