First Game of the Season

The weather certainly helped us with our first game of the season last Saturday. Thanks to Derek and all those who contributed. There are a few things we could all do to make the season go even better.

Covid Issues

It is still important that we all remember to wear a mask whenever we enter the clubhouse which should only be for signing in and accessing the toilets. For the moment and at least until 17 May 2021, we must queue outside to order and collect any drinks. For now, any driving must be alone or with someone in your own bubble.

Upcoming Fixtures In-house and Friendlies

Sunday 25 April at 2.00 pm Triples / Greys

Saturday 1 May at 2.00 pm Triples / Greys - Home v Supermarine

Sunday 2 May at 2.30 pm Triples / Whites - Away v Broughton Gifford

Saturday 8 May at 2.30 pm Triples / Whites - Away v Calne

Saturday 15 May at 2.30 pm Triples / Whites - Away v Bristol Greenbank

Sunday 16th May at 2.30 pm Triples / Whites - Home v Wroughton

Please let Derek know if you are interested in being involved in any of these games. Email maryderek@btinternet.com or call 01666 823482

Watch the website for confirmation of a place.

Tea and Biscuits

There are still issues to sort with these fixtures which could start from 7 May 2021. If you may be available on Friday afternoons then please let Roger know and he will make direct contact with those required. Roger Pope. Call 01666 822956 or email roger_pope@msn.com

Cotswold League

The club will be entering just one team this season and fixtures are due to start from Tuesday 11 May 2021. Roy and Brian will be approaching members to check availability and inform them of selection.

Competitions

There will be scope for some in-house competitions. All being well the club house will be open to members on Friday 21 May 2021 at 6.30 pm and subsequent Fridays. Please bring along any suggestions for competitions so that these can be discussed and processes agreed upon.

Open Day

Along with the Bowls England Big Weekend, our Open Day will take place on Saturday 29 May 2021. Details to follow.

Car Parking

Now that shops and offices have re-opened in Malmesbury all 13 of the paid car parking spaces, from which the club derives a crucial revenue, have been in use. If everyone parks within these designated spaces then this should leave 6 spaces for members who may have arrived for a roll-up. There may be some occasions between 9.00 and 5.00 p.m. when the car park is full and members will then have to park elsewhere. Will all members please display their membership card on the dashboard during these times and refrain from blocking in any of the ‘paid’ car parkers?

Equipment Shed

Unfortunately, we have had some problems with the shed being entered by interlopers. The shed will be locked from Sunday 25 May with a combination lock. Please ask Roger for the combination lock number.
