St George's new hydrotherapy user Mary, writes about her experience of Aqua Health Circuits, which are helping her to recover from open-heart surgery.
“I decided to try the St George’s Community Hydrotherapy Pool some four weeks ago. I needed something to help restore my general fitness following open-heart surgery. I have found it invaluable: a small pool, beautifully warm, with small class sizes and great instructors.
I opted for the ‘Aqua Circuits’ session, which takes place on Tuesday afternoon. There are two sessions to choose from, one at 3pm and one at 4pm. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed it; it has helped me considerably. The session is 30 minutes. This includes the warm-up before the exercises start and stretches when it finishes. This prevents any muscle problems after the event. Then there are a series of simple exercises arranged round the pool. Each exercise is done for one minute and then we all move round the pool to the next one, with a total of two full circuits.
This low impact group exercise could help many people with different ailments. I would suggest that anyone interested should either pop in and talk to the team or give them a ring on 01733 453583.”
