Arctic conditions do not cool enthusiasm for the season opener
The weather forecast said it was 7 degrees celsius but with a strong northerly wind, it felt more like zero degrees.
Haydon Wick, celebrating their Silver Jubilee, arrived nice and early for the season opener. Everyone had an enjoyable afternoon shaking off the cobwebs from the winter break, The captains took the sensible decision to reduce the number of ends from 21 to 18 otherwise we would have experienced frostbite.
A big thank you to Margaret who has handed over the keys to the bar to Peter. We will miss her this season. And thank you to Colin Sue and Joan for the great catering.
The score, though it is not important, was 64-61, with Captain Brian's rink being the top rink.
Let's hope it warms up for next weekend.
